This publication presents a unique open-access dataset containing more than 42,000 individually mapped trees from 111 marteloscope plots across Europe and other regions. The database records tree species, dimensions, spatial coordinates, and detailed information on tree-related microhabitats (TreMs) such as cavities, deadwood features, cracks, epiphytes, nests, and fungal structures. These microhabitats are key resources for forest biodiversity and support a wide range of organisms throughout their life cycles. The dataset provides a standardized foundation for research, monitoring, and training on biodiversity conservation, forest management, habitat connectivity, and the ecological role of habitat trees, enabling comparative analyses across forest types, management systems, and biogeographical regions.
