The Cool Farm Tool is an online-application that can be used for evaluating the impact of measures related to farm management. The tool contains a module for product-based greenhouse gas assessments and a module for farm-level biodiversity impacts.
The Cool Farm Tool is a greenhouse gas calculator intended for product-level calculations of output emissions for individual products produced on-farm. It can also be used for determining and assessing the state of biodiversity performance (on farm-level). The Cool Farm Tool’s (CFT) main feature is a greenhouse gas (GHG) calculator at farm level, this means emissions coming from agricultural production of a specific product (crop or livestock). The tool contains several other modules: The Cool Farm Tool's water module is designed to enable farmers to quickly assess crop water consumption, crop water requirements and crop water footprints. For the biodiversity module, the tool uses an action-based approach (rather than an outcome based approach e.g. direct species counts) where points are given for efforts made, rather than requiring measurements of biodiversity response. The Cool Farm Tool also has a Food Loss and Waste (FLW) module.
