Forest restoration workplans describe restoration measures and activities conducted in the various SUPERB demonstration areas. Furthermore, the workplans serve as a handbook, both for the demonstration areas concerned and as a practical guide for future forest restoration efforts more generally across Europe.
This document contains the 12 demo area restoration workplans of the SUPERB Project and effectively serves as a handbook; both for the demos themselves and for others working on the forest restoration. The restoration workplans are very prescriptive and describe restoration sites, goals and activities for each demo area. The restoration measures will be integrated into the forest and landscape as much as possible. Additionally, the connections with other aspects such as stakeholder engagement and biodiversity monitoring are made within the restoration workplans. Restoration workplans cover the following demonstrator areas: Po Valley (Italy), Southern Netherlands, North Moravia (Czech Republic), North Rhine Westphalia (Germany), Vindelälven-Juhttátahkka Biosphere Reserve (Sweden), Queen Elizabeth Forest Park (Scotland), Biosphere Reserve Bačko Podunavlje (Croatia/Serbia cross-border), Făgăraș mountains (Romania), Thy and Nordsjælland (Denmark), Castilla y Leon (Spain), Nouvelle Aquitaine (France) and coppice forests in Serbia. As a follow-up a further version (2.0) will be prepared to provide more comprehensive information about the demo sites and to address gaps, thereby enhancing the value as a practical tool.
